1. Name is most important, cant do the web documents properly without. A logo would be good too. Names thus far:
- lap dancer(?), 'el hollingsworth
- WiTunes (Toones?) - bird/rutherford partnership
think another useless suggestion cropped up on saturday night but cant remember.
2. Currently the package uses my existing 'Playout' database & software to manage the tracks however I have since discovered (a little in horror) that the full version of Winamp comes with a 'media library' for that purpose. Bit of a bugger. I'm inclined to think it would be better to use that but the software interface looks a little lacking in certain key areas. Another option would be to incoporate _some_ of my software in there as an additional media library plugin. Or leave as is. _________________ --

1. A name ...My suggestions (just off the top of me bonce, like)
RequestIt
iChoose
2. Being something of a fan of the OAS database, I like the idea of having almost an 'OAS-lite' as part of the Winamp plug-in. Of course, the other question is - is there something better than Winamp out there with an equally groovy API?
Late night thoughts, I'm afraid... _________________ ...run away! |

1. i am a little worried about the 'i' <anything> options, they're good but I don't really want to get sued by apple who've probably patented everything starting with 'i' now. think the name needs to sound snazy & sexy. quite.
2. Here's my current plan:
- "request-it' (or whatever), as 1 cheapo product using the winamp media library to source the music
- "playout lite", comprising 2 media library plug-ins, one forming "Playout Mgr" to manage the music database, t'other the Playout 'Load' dialog for loading tracks. The 'request-it' software will also come along with it but this will hang off the oas-database as well.
alternative to winamp - not looked too hard but i doubt we'll find anything with the breath of support & flexibile interface plus playback of practically every audio format known to man. if only they documented stuff a little.... _________________ --

Hurrah, can finally log in....
GoPlay seems to be the most popular name so far (pub discussion many moons ago).
Have gotten Mr Bird to mention that the software does not work with WinAmp lite.
It would be great if the playlist on the plugin tied in closer with the WinAmp playlist - if a track is removed from the WinAmp playlist, the web software does not change to reflect this. Also, if not enough tunes are requested WinAmp builds a random playlist - these tracks do not appear on the 'GoPlay' software.
The orange screen is making me go blind - is this 'Easy Software'? |

still its only taken a year (almost to the day!) to pick this software up again and looking at it again reminds me there was some real horrible things going on to get this to work properly.
That said, I've rejigged the installer, updated the web page colours and addressed the issues raised by our esteemed colleague, mr. fishcake. which if I'm not wrong amounted to what the 'playing next' button did - it was just displaying the currently requested tracks as opposed to what's in the Winamp playlist, which reflects the original functionality in the Playout PHP variant. However because you can all too easily mess around with Winamp, I've changed it to now simply reflect what's in Winamp's playlist.
He did mention a couple of other bits recently - which I think amounted to the "randomness" of picking tracks but can't remember exactly what, so ignoring that a new beta (3) is available should anyone wish to try it out. _________________ --
